Turtles, eggs threatened by poachers

Tom Bregman was trying to let us down easily.
But he was clearly flying the highest when one of his beloved green sea turtles came back from the ‘dead’.
“Don’t expect to see turtles,” cautioned the 20-year-old COTERC (Canadian Organization for Tropical Education and Rainforest Conservation) team leader as our six-member party headed out for its inaugural 5 a.m. morning census.
Bregman’s caveat was based on two seasons of night walks and morning census that form the heart of the COTERC sea turtle monitoring program.
